Pure Storage: Management Pack 3.0 for vRealize Operations Manager (vROps)
It’s that time again, time where I get to blog and provide some updates about new products and their integrations. This is one of my favorite parts of the job, spreading the good news to everyone. 🙂
As you can tell my the title of the blog today we are going to cover the release of Pure Storage Management Pack 3.0 for vRealize Operations Manager (vROps). While this blog isn’t going to be overly abundant in technical information it doesn’t mean there aren’t some important updates to review and understand. So if you’re invested in vROps be sure to read it all!
What’s new?
When vROps 8.0 was announced there were a lot of new exciting features and enhancements that end-users were/are excited to take advantage of. Since that time there have been a fair number of inquiries about when there will be a compatible management pack from Pure Storage available for this integration.
Well today is that day! Pure Storage Management Pack 3.0 is officially certified with vROps 8.0 & 8.1 and available for download! We know it has been a long time coming for some end-users and we appreciate your patience while we brought this integration to life.
Along with the certification of vROps 8.x there are a few additional (minor) fixes that have been implemented as well. In order to expedite the release of 3.0 no major changes were introduced in this management pack. Due to a change in the underlying SDK between vROps 7.5 and 8.x we wanted to be sure limited changes were made for better stability and monitoring for our customers.

Where are we going from here?
Now that we have been able to release Pure Storage Management Pack 3.0, what does the future look like?
Well the first thing to say is that we take our integrations with the VMware vRealize Suite seriously at Pure Storage. We understand that there has been a delay in some of the integrations (particularly with vROps) but don’t want that to send a message that it isn’t a priority. In fact, it is the opposite! These past couple of months we have spent significant time planning out the roadmap for vROps and ensuring we have the proper resources lined up to take on these challenges.
Some of the items we are looking to implement in future version of the Management Pack include:
– ActiveCluster
– NVMe-oF backed VMFS datastores
– Reporting on QoS throughput limits
– vVol integration (Supported in vROps 8.1+)
It is important to note that while we are aiming to get these features implemented priorities for features may change and some may be pushed through while others may not be implemented as quickly.
Lastly, if you feel like there are features that would be beneficial for your environment (or others) please let us know! We always want to hear from the people who use it most to know how we can best meet your needs and make your life just a little bit easier.
The best way to do this is by joining code.purestorage on slack and joining the #ask-vrops channel. Otherwise, feel free to leave a comment below!
As always, if there are any questions please let me know!
